Siliguri, 31st December: A heart-wrenching incident came to light from Bharatnagar area under Ward No. 24 of Siliguri. A father committed suicide after strangling his son to death.
Reportedly, the son Subhash Roy was differently-abled and had been undergoing treatment for years now. On Thursday night, Subrata Roy, the father, lost all hopes of his son getting better and strangled him to death after feeding him food mixed with sleeping pills. After the drastic step, Subrata hanged himself from a noose. Both their bodies were first found by Subrata’s wife this morning.
Upon receiving the news, a team from Siliguri police station reached the spot and recovered the bodies and sent them for postpartum.
According to local sources, Subrata was under severe mental stress due to his son’s illness. MLA Shankar Ghosh reached to meet the mourning family as soon as he got the news of the incident.
