Siliguri, 24th November: A man was injured after being allegedly attacked with a sharp weapon for protesting against the harassment of wife in Siliguri.
Upon learning about the incident, Amit Sarkar, president of the Darjeeling District Legal Aid Forum, assured of reporting the matter to the Commission for Women. He also met the family on Wednesday.
It is to be noted that Jhantu Malik, a resident of the Khalpara outpost area, had been harassing the couple for the past several months. Allegedly, Malik often used to misbehave and taunt the victim’s wife in his absence.
As per the husband’s accusation, on November 13 when he was returning home, he saw Malik dragging his wife towards the red-light area shouting filthy remarks. Utterly shocked by the incident, he ran to save his wife. During the scuffle, Malik allegedly stabbed him with a knife.
Following this, a written complaint was lodged on November 14 in this concern. The couple expressed outrage as the accused has not been arrested yet.
