Siliguri, 16th April: The NJP Police arrested a man for allegedly impersonating as a police officer and duping several traders on the pretext of buying goods from their shops. The arrested accused has been identified as Debashish Biswas, a resident of Siliguri Bhanu Nagar. However, he was currently residing in a rented house in South Colony.
As per the reports, the accused had been impersonating as a police officer and recently bought himself a lot of goods from several shops. When the shopkeepers asked him to pay the money for the goods, he started threatening them.
Later, several businessmen filed a complaint against Biswas at the NJP police station. Based on the allegations, the police launched an operation and arrested him. The arrested accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Thursday.
