Siliguri, 07th August: The Siliguri Women’s Police Station arrested an individual, identified as Himanshu Dev Sharma (43), for allegedly engaging in a physical relationship with a woman under the deception of marriage.
According to reports, the accused operated a pineapple farm in Bidhan Nagar and resided in the Ward No. 22 area of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Based on the details obtained, four years ago he developed a romantic relationship with a married woman from Malbazar while she was visiting her relative’s home in Siliguri. During this period, Himanshu repeatedly engaged in intimate relationship with the woman under the guise of marrying her. Later, the woman was impregnated and gave birth to the child in 2021.
However, Himanshu gradually distanced himself from the woman and even denied accepting the child as his own. On June 28 of this year, the woman filed a formal complaint against the accused at the Siliguri Women’s Police Station. The police initiated an investigation and found that the accused was evading the authorities.
Meanwhile, the investigation continued and the accused was successfully arrested from his house after the police received a tip-off. On Wednesday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Court while the police are engaged in a further investigation of the entire incident.
