Siliguri, 06th March: In a significant development, the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad laid the foundation stone for 21 projects across four blocks on Wednesday. These projects, including roads, drains, community halls, boundary walls, and cremation grounds, were collectively launched at an event attended by local officials and residents.
According to reports, various projects in Matigara, Naxalbari, Kharibari, and Phansidewa blocks were inaugurated under the initiative of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad. Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh of the Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad watched over the inauguration of ten projects in Naxalbari. This included the commencement of road construction at Manjha Tea Garden, along with the establishment of community halls at Belgachi and Jabra, and cremation grounds at Baro Maniram, Ketugabur, and Bengai Jote. Additionally, drainage and boundary wall works were initiated at Rathkhola.
In this regard, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh stated that officials from four blocks of the Mahakuma Parishad had initiated development works in their respective regions. Arun Ghosh inaugurated several projects in Naxalbari, totaling a significant investment of Rs 3.5 crore. Highlighting the lack of developmental efforts by BJP MPs and MLAs over the past 15 years, Ghosh emphasized the pressing need for progress in the area. Local residents expressed hopes for tangible benefits from the construction of roads, drains, and community halls, eventually resulting in an improved standard of living.
