Naxalbari, 26th July: The completion of one year of Siliguri Mahakma Parishad Board was celebrated with a program organized in Naxalbari. The festivities commenced with a grand procession from Naxalbari bus stand to Naxalbari BDO office. The main event took place at Naxalbari Community Hall, where the Sabhadhipati highlighted the area’s developmental achievements over the past year.
During the program, the Sabhadhipati announced the plantation of 20 thousand saplings across the region. Notably, the Pathashree project successfully constructed 47 roads throughout the division within the last year. Additionally, the PHE project ensured access to drinking water in every rural household. Progress on solid waste management is ongoing in 11 gram panchayats, and it will soon extend to the remaining 11 as well.
The event witnessed the presence of prominent dignitaries, including North Bengal Development Minister Udayan Guha, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb, Siliguri Mahakma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh, SJDA Chairman Saurabh Chakraborty, CADC Chairman Alok Chakraborty, Siliguri Police Commissioner Akhilesh Kumar Chaturvedi, Darjeeling District Magistrate S Ponnambalam, and representatives from four Block Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayat.
