Siliguri, 29th October: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police is making various efforts to free the city from traffic congestion. Changes have also been made to the traffic rules. The movement of e-rickshaws (Totos) has been banned on national highways and unregistered totos have been banned on main roads. Although miking was also carried out on behalf of police earlier, totos were still being spotted frequently in the streets.
An operation was carried out by the Junction Traffic Guard again today in compliance with the government order. The operation was conducted under the leadership of IC Subir Dutta. Around 50 Totos were detained. It has been learned that similar operations will be carried out in the coming days as well.
