Siliguri, 09th May: In response to the prolonged demands from the local residents, the work of installation of street lights along the Eastern Bypass in Siliguri has commenced. The initiative has been undertaken by the Public Work Department (PWD).
According to reports, the lack of adequate lighting along the Eastern Bypass has been a prolonged issue, leading to a rise in criminal activities under the cover of darkness. Local residents have repeatedly protested and petitioned authorities for the installation of street lights to mitigate these risks.
Consequently, the PWD initiated the work of installation of 64 street lights along the Eastern Bypass.
