Siliguri Hoteliers impose ban on Bangladeshi Tourists

Siliguri, 09th December: The Greater Siliguri Hoteliers Welfare Association has decided to ban Bangladeshi tourists from entering hotels in Siliguri for an indefinite period.

The decision comes in protest against the alleged insult to the Indian national flag and reported atrocities against Hindus in Bangladesh. Reportedly, a meeting was held by the association on Sunday, followed by a vote among its members, where approximately 97 percent voted in favour of the ban.

In this regard, the association’s Joint Secretary Ujjwal Ghosh stated that this decision aligns with similar measures taken in Malda. He added that the association has taken this decision in protest against the insult to the Indian flag in Bangladesh, the atrocities against Hindus, and the kind of comments being made by the leaders there.

Further, he stated that even though it will cause them temporary financial loss, the decision is in the interest of the country.
