Siliguri Fake Lottery Case: Police arrest four including printing press owner

Siliguri, 02nd March: In a significant breakthrough, the officials of Siliguri police station and Khalpara Outpost jointly launched an operation and exposed a fake lottery racket operated at a printing press in Siliguri. The police seized counterfeit lottery tickets worth lakhs of rupees and apprehended four individuals in connection to the case. The arrested accused are Saurav Jaiswal, Gourang Mandal, Probal Das, and Mukesh Kumar Gupta.


Notably, on Friday, the officials of the Siliguri police and Khalpara Outpost busted a fake lottery racket run at a printing press located in the Maharaja Colony under Ward No. 04 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. However, due to the prompt action of the police, the illegal trade of forged lottery tickets was successfully exposed. Reportedly, the police had retrieved many fake lottery tickets from three companies from the printing press.

According to police sources, the estimated market value of the recovered tickets is Rs 80 lakhs. Subsequently, the owner of the printing press, Saurav Jaiswal, along with three employees, was arrested on charges of fraud. On Saturday, all four accused were produced before the Siliguri Court for legal proceedings. At present, the police are engaged in investigating a possible mastermind behind the incident or if the printing press solely operated the racket.
