Siliguri Divisional Council Elections: Left-Congress agree on seat sharing to overthrow TMC-BJP

Siliguri 1st June: The Left-Congress has agreed upon seat sharing, rather than forming an alliance, to overthrow the Bharatiya Janata Party and Trinamool Congress in the upcoming Siliguri Divisional Council elections. 


Addressing the media, Left Convenor Jibesh Sarkar and Congress leader Sankar Malakar stated that both the parties will be fielding candidates in 8 seats respectively. Two Congress candidates submitted their nomination paper on Wednesday while the rest is set to do so by Thursday. On the other hand, 7 out of 8 Left candidates have already filed their nominations and the remaining one will submit and complete the procedure by tomorrow also.

In this regard, Darjeeling District Left Front Convener Jibesh Sarkar stated that the seats have been arranged specifically to defeat the Trinamool and BJP. Shankar Malakar, on the other hand, stated that Congress would leave two seats for the CPM, if necessary, to defeat the Trinamool-BJP.
