Siliguri District Hospital OPD closed due to doctors’ strike; medical services disrupted

Siliguri, 17th August: The Siliguri District Hospital’s Outpatient Department (OPD) and other medical services have been severely disrupted following a 24-hour strike by doctors called by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). The strike, which is in protest against the recent R.G. Kar Hospital incident, has led to the closure of outdoor services across hospitals in the region.

Patients from various parts of North Bengal, including Siliguri and its surrounding areas, who rely on North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) and Siliguri District Hospital for treatment, are facing significant challenges. Many individuals who traveled from distant locations for medical care are now unable to receive the necessary services.

The strike has created confusion and frustration among patients and their families, who are struggling to find alternative medical care. The closure of OPD services at Siliguri District Hospital has sparked widespread anger, as individuals express their concerns over the disruption in essential healthcare services.
