Siliguri College cultural event disrupted, Day College students boycott program

Siliguri, 04th February: On the occasion of Saraswati Puja, a cultural event organized by the Siliguri College was interrupted, leading to controversy. On Monday night, the Day College students protested, holding placards and boycotting the program.


The issue arose when a dispute over the cultural event escalated, with threats reported early in the morning. Following the incidents, police officials were deployed at the college to maintain decorum. On the evening of the event, the DJ music from the program held by the Siliguri Commerce College caused disturbances to the Day College musicians.

Former Day College student Vivek Jha explained that they had to halt the program due to the loud DJ music at Commerce College.


On the other hand, Sourav Bhaskar, a representative of Commerce College, stated, that they have always worked in harmony with the Day College and wanted them to continue their program. However, after their DJ music was shut down, the Day College also stopped their event. The incident has stirred up tensions between the two colleges, with both sides claiming external influence behind the disruption. Meanwhile, a professor from the college is allegedly instigating this situation.
