Phansidewa, 17th February: The body of a Siliguri-based businessman was recovered on Tuesday after a three-day search operation in the Teesta Canal area of Phansidewa.
According to reports, Manoj Kumar Dalmia, a resident of Milan Pally in Siliguri, had allegedly jumped into the Teesta Canal on Sunday after leaving behind a note. Following the incident, disaster management teams and the police launched an extensive search operation, but the body could not be traced initially.
On Tuesday morning, the disaster management team resumed the search and recovered the body from amid water hyacinth in the Teesta Canal.
The body was taken to Phansidewa Rural Hospital and will be sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) for post-mortem examination. Phansidewa Police Station is conducting further investigation into the matter.
