Siliguri, 20th April: To spread awareness regarding the harmful effects of using plastic carry bags, in view of the benefit of the upcoming generation, Siliguri Municipal Corporation’s Borough Committee No. 2 today launched a campaign at Bidhan Market Siliguri.
Plastic carry bags have been banned in various places throughout the city. Despite multiple initiatives taken by the Municipal Corporation in the past, the usage of plastic carry bags has not ceased. Hence, the SMC has taken the initiative to make the city plastic-free again.
Today, under the guidance of Borough Committee No. 2, an awareness campaign was conducted against the usage of plastic carry bags. This campaign was carried out throughout Bidhan Market. Officials have warned that if the usage of plastic carry bags is not discontinued in the near future, strict actions will be taken.
