Siliguri Baghajatin Athletic Club to host Marathon on ‘Mahalaya’

Siliguri, 11th October: The Siliguri Baghajatin Athletic Club will organize a 5 and 10-kilometer marathon on the occasion of ‘Mahalaya’. The details of the event were revealed by the club members through a press conference in the presence of President Utpal Banerjee, Secretary Akhil Biswas, Piara Singh, and the Club’s Chief Advisor Mayor Goutam Deb.


As per reports, the event will be graced by former goalkeeper of Indian hockey team Bharat Chhetri as the chief guest. This year, the club is entering its 39th year. About 500 participants, including participants from Assam, Nepal, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand will take part in the event. The 10-kilometer race will commence from the club premises and end at the club via the Bhaktinagar Police Station and Sevoke Road. Meanwhile, the 5 km race will start from Haidar Para Pranami Mandir and will end at the club premises.

Several participants have already registered for the event. However, due to the Sikkim disaster, the participation of athletes from the areas is unlikely.
