Sikkim-made liquor seized in Siliguri before being smuggled to Bihar, one arrested

Siliguri, 26th November: Matigara Police, in plain clothes, seized a large stock of Sikkim-made liquor from a house in Simultala before it could be smuggled to Bihar. One accused, identified as Chhotu Sahani of Kuli Para in Ward No. 01, has been arrested.


Police sources said Sahani had long been involved in illegal liquor trade. He allegedly brought liquor from Sikkim in bulk and stored it at his sister’s house in Siimultala before sending it to Bihar.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house and recovered 600 bottles of liquor. Sahani was arrested on the spot.


He will be produced in Siliguri court on Thursday. Matigara Police are continuing their investigation into the case.
