Siliguri, 28th July: The state education department started English medium education in Bengali medium schools to strengthen the education system. This system was started in Siliguri’s Girls High School and Siliguri’s Boys High School.
Presently, the education is imparted in English till Class 09 in both of these two schools. Despite the introduction of English medium education in these two schools five years ago, not a single teacher has been appointed so far.
Due to lack of English medium teachers, the students are being taught by the Bengali medium teachers out of compulsion. In this regard, Girls High School headmistress Atyuha Bagchi and Boys High School headmaster, Utpal Dutta said that due to the lack of English medium teachers, constant problems are being faced by the students and the staff.
From the first year on behalf of both the schools, the demand for teachers was made several times to the District School Inspector by submitting request letters to the District School Inspector. However, no initiative to resolve their problems even after five years.
