Shankar Malakar writes to Mamata Banerjee on alarming rise in child deaths in North Bengal

Siliguri, 05th October: During a press conference at the Darjeeling District Congress office on Tuesday, District Congress (Plain) President Shankar Malakar stated that he wrote to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee with an appeal to curb the rising death of children in North Bengal due to unknown fever and malnutrition.

“Experts had already said that children might be infected with serious illness. But our government is busy with elections and politics. We demand the intervention of the CM in this regard. The central and state governments have failed in many ways,” Malakar added.

He further said that Uttar Kanya should form a committee by building an expert team quickly and immediately find out the root cause behind the death of children.
