Siliguri, 03rd January: E-rickshaws (Toto) without number plates have been restricted on the city’s main roads and National highways.
Hundreds of Toto drivers, on Sunday morning, gheraoed the house of Fulbari-2 gram panchayat pradhan Dilip Roy in Sipaipara demanding to lift the order.
Following this, the Panchayat Pradhan held a meeting with the Toto drivers and heard out their demands. The drivers said that this is their only source of income. Hence, if they are not allowed to drive on National Highways, it will be extremely difficult for them to board passengers from the alleys.
On the other hand, the panchayat pradhan stated that the matter has already been informed to Minister Goutam Deb. He also assured to approach the administrative officials in the coming days to help resolve the matter soon.
