Siliguri, 02nd October: The statues of prominent personalities were unveiled at Siliguri’s Surya Sen Park on Friday.
Siliguri’s renowned educationist Gaurishankar Bhattacharya inaugurated the statues of Rabindranath Tagore, Raja Ram Mohan Roy, Swami Vivekananda, Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, Henry Louis Vivian Derozio, and Michael Madhusudan Dutt today. Besides, trees plantation was also organized.
“At present, the new generation has forgotten the contribution of these great men. Therefore, such an initiative has been taken on behalf of SMC. More such statues will be established in the coming days,” Ashok Bhattacharya, Chairman of the BoA at SMC stated on the occasion.
SMC’s BoA member Shankar Ghosh, Sharadindu Chakraborty, Ram Bhajan Mahato, and many others were present during the programme.
