Siliguri, 04th February: A major road accident occurred on Siliguri’s Eastern Bypass, leaving several people injured after being struck by a recklessly driven vehicle. Following the incident, an enraged mob vandalized the vehicle.
According to reports, the accident took place on Monday night when a four-wheeler, heading towards Ashighar More from the Thakurnagar area, hit multiple e-rickshaws, scooties, bikes, bicycles, and another four-wheeler while attempting to flee. Locals chased down the vehicle and managed to stop it, but the driver and two others fled the scene. Subsequently, the angry crowd vandalized the vehicle.
Several individuals sustained injuries in the incident, with three seriously wounded. The injured were rescued and rushed to Siliguri District Hospital for treatment.
Upon receiving information, police from Ashighar Outpost arrived at the scene, seized the vehicle, and took it to the outpost. Authorities have launched an investigation into the matter.
Locals alleged that the driver and another individual were consuming alcohol while driving, which led to the accident.
