Siliguri, 17th August: Tension broke out in Siliguri Hashmi Chowk over BJP’s Yuva Sankalpa Yatra, on Tuesday. Several BJP leaders and activists were detained in the incident.
A huge police force was deployed in front of the BJP district office at Hashmi Chowk this morning. Siliguri police detained many party leaders and activists after they gathered in front of the district office. High-ranking police officials were also present at the spot since this morning.
Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh was also taken to the Siliguri police station today. Several BJP leaders and activists were detained from Hill Cart Road. Police kept strict monitoring by flying drones in Hashmi Chowk.
