Siliguri, 25th April: With the growing number of coronavirus cases, the Siliguri Police launched operations at Tikiapara, Mahabirsthan, Nayabazar, and Bidhan Market, on Sunday morning. The ones spotted without masks at the market were arrested.
High-ranking police officials including Siliguri SDO Priyadarshini S and DCP of Siliguri Police Commissionerate Joy Tudu were present during the operation.
People who were roaming around in Mahabirsthan and other areas without masks were arrested and awareness was raised among the general public. Continuous campaigns will be held from now on.
Incidentally, a directive was issued yesterday on behalf of Nabanna where the state police and the Kolkata police have been asked to take legal action against the ones spotted without masks in the streets.
