Siliguri, 20th June: NJP police have arrested another accused in connection with the recent attack on a family in the Thakur Nagar area near Eastern Bypass, Siliguri. The arrested individual has been identified as Vishal Sarkar alias Raj.
The incident took place last Tuesday when a group of local miscreants allegedly attacked a family, leaving several members injured. Following the incident, six accused were arrested. The attack sparked public outrage, leading to a road blockade and bandh in Thakur Nagar on Wednesday. Mayor Gautam Deb visited the spot, while Dabgram-Fulbari MLA Sikha Chatterjee met the affected family on Thursday and demanded strict action against the culprits.
On Thursday, NJP police arrested Vishal Sarkar from the Madani Bazar area. With his arrest, the total number of people held in the case has risen to seven. Police have confirmed that the search for the remaining accused is ongoing. The arrested individual was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Friday.
