Seven-day North Bengal Folk Culture festival commences at Takimari in Gajaldoba

Rajganj, 28th November: The seven-day North Bengal Folk Culture, Rash Mela, and Baul Utsav commenced at Takimari adjacent to Gajaldoba. On Monday night, Jalpaiguri MP Jayanta Roy officially inaugurated the grand festival.


According to reports, this year marks the 25th year of the Takimari Rash festival, which is annually held at Gajaldoba under the Mantadari Gram panchayat of Rajganj. Additionally, a carnival has also been scheduled to continue for seven days beginning from November 27 to December 3. Artists have traveled from Bangladesh, Assam, Jharkhand, and other areas in West Bengal to actively participate in the festival. Significantly, the event will preach the tales and values of Lord Krishna with the assistance of an idol of the Hindu deity.

In this regard, the committee members revealed that the local residents of the area are voluntarily assisting to help organize the event. Furthermore, a large number of visitors from in and outside the Rajganj block are anticipated to attend the festival.
