Siliguri, 28th December: A security guard has been arrested by the Women’s Police Station on charges of alleged rape. The accused has been identified as Kartik Haldar, a resident of Dakshin Dinajpur.
According to reports, Kartik Haldar was working as a security guard in a residential complex in the NTS More area of Siliguri. The victim worked as a cleaner in the same complex. On December 10, when the woman came to work, Kartik Haldar allegedly lured her to his room and sexually assaulted her.
Following the incident, the woman lodged a complaint with the Siliguri Women’s Police Station. After the complaint was filed, the accused, Kartik Haldar, went absconding. Based on the complaint, the Siliguri Women’s Police Station launched a search for the accused and arrested him from Dakshin Dinajpur on Friday based on a tip-off.
On Saturday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri court. The police are investigating the entire matter.
