Siliguri, 30th November: A ‘scooty gang’ has been creating panic in Siliguri, reportedly involved in three snatching incidents across the city. According to police sources, this gang has targeted women in separate incidents, escaping with valuables and leaving the victims shaken.
The first incident occurred in an area under the Pradhan Nagar police station, where the gang snatched a handbag from a woman. Following this, similar snatching incidents were reported in the Matigara and Siliguri police station areas, with women walking alone being the primary targets.
The police are currently struggling to identify the gang due to a lack of concrete evidence. The gang members continue to roam freely, intensifying concerns among residents.
DCP Biswa Chand Thakur of Siliguri Metropolitan Police stated that several snatching gangs have been apprehended in the past. Investigations into these incidents are underway, with police relying on CCTV footage to trace the culprits. The DCP assured that the gang’s origins and identity would be uncovered soon and expressed confidence that they will be caught promptly.
