Rajganj, 21st February: Manojit Biswas, a teacher at Harihar High School and resident of Ambari’s Kamarvita in Binnaguri Gram Panchayat, has stunned everyone by cultivating strawberries weighing between 300 and 400 grams on the rooftop of his two-storey house.
Despite not owning farmland, Biswas pursues his passion for agriculture every year by growing various flowers and fruits on his rooftop. Last year, he planted a single strawberry sapling, which produced multiple offshoots now bearing a large yield. Some of the strawberries this year have reached unprecedented sizes, leaving even Biswas amazed.
Apart from strawberries, his rooftop garden features a variety of flowers and other horticultural produce. He has previously been recognized by the Agriculture Department for his successful rooftop farming initiatives.
Biswas shared some of the strawberry saplings with his school students and expressed his willingness to help anyone interested in cultivating strawberries by providing saplings.
