Phansidewa, 13th September: In defiance of sand extraction restrictions, illegal sand mining operations were uncovered along the Mahananda River in Phansidewa. During the operation, the police seized a tractor and a dumper involved in the illegal activity.
According to reports, the Bidhannagar Investigation Center police conducted a search operation on the national highway after receiving information from secret sources. During the operation, they seized a tractor loaded with sand for lacking valid documentation. Subsequently, the driver of the tractor, Minral Ahmed, was arrested.
Additionally, a dumper loaded with sand was also seized. The driver of the dumper fled the scene upon noticing the police.
The arrested individual was presented in the Siliguri Magistrate Court on Friday. The tractor and dumper have been confiscated, and a thorough investigation into the incident has been initiated.
