Salbari Sub Traffic Guard conducts cleanliness drive along NH-55 in Siliguri

Siliguri, 11th January: A cleanliness drive titled “Clean and Green Drive” was carried out on the initiative of the Salbari Sub Traffic Guard in collaboration with Save Earth for Life. The campaign saw active participation from Siliguri Metropolitan Police DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed, traffic police personnel, and college students.


The drive focused on cleaning National Highway 55 and the adjoining Toy Train railway line with the aim of promoting a clean and green environment.

The stretch is a key route for vehicles travelling to Darjeeling and also runs parallel to the Toy Train track, making it crucial from both traffic and tourism perspectives.


During the drive, garbage and waste scattered on both sides of the road were cleared. The traffic police reaffirmed their commitment to providing a cleaner and healthier city for residents.

Speaking on the occasion, DCP Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed said NH-55 is a highly important route, and keeping this area clean is essential.

He added that similar cleanliness drives will be carried out by various traffic guards across Siliguri in the coming days.
