Siliguri, 02nd January: A sudden attack on a saint’s vehicle has raised alarm in the region. The incident occurred on the night of January 1, when Hiranmoy Banerjee, a saint from the Vrindavan-based Viswa Vidya Dham Trust, was allegedly attacked while traveling in the Farabari Nepali Basti area, near Siliguri.
According to reports, Banerjee had been conducting a ‘Bhagwat Katha’ event in Sahudangi and was on his way back to a devotee’s house. During this, two individuals on a motorcycle followed his vehicle and attacked it. The attackers reportedly used sharp weapons to break the vehicle’s window. Fortunately, Banerjee managed to escape unharmed.
Following the incident, Banerjee filed a complaint at the Ashighar Outpost on Thursday. In his statement, he mentioned that his vehicle had been attacked by the assailants, who smashed the window with a sharp weapon. He also noted that a similar attempt had previously occurred in Cooch Behar.
The police are currently investigating the matter.
