Siliguri, 13th August: In a significant collaboration with Youth India and Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram, the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, the Ministry of Culture of the Government of India organized the ‘Run for Bharat’ 10-kilometer marathon ahead of the Independence Day as part of “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebration in Siliguri.
On Sunday morning, the marathon commenced from Gate No. 2 of the North Bengal University (NBU) and concluded at Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram in Salbari. More than a hundred participants were witnessed taking part in the run and their enthusiasm was evident amid the downpour in the city. After the event, trophies and cash prizes were awarded to the first, second, and third-position winners in both male and female categories. In addition, the runners-up, up to the 10th position were also acknowledged.
The event was attended by Indian Olympian and Arjuna Awardee Kavita Raut, Director of the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies Arindam Mukherjee, Youth India member Sailesh Kumar Singh, and other dignitaries.
