Siliguri, 23rd March: With the upcoming elections in view, central forces conducted a route march in Siliguri to strengthen security arrangements and maintain law and order.
The route march was attended by the Siliguri Police Commissioner, Darjeeling District Magistrate, along with ICs and OCs of various police stations. The march covered several important areas of the city. Central forces have been carrying out regular route marches to ensure law and order in the run-up to the polls.
Siliguri Police Commissioner Syed Waquar Raza stated that five companies of central forces are currently deployed in the city. He added that the number of central forces will increase as the elections approach, and all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure that voters can cast their votes without fear.
Darjeeling District Magistrate Harishanker Panicker said that the administration is functioning properly, and route marches along with surveillance are being conducted in coordination with the central forces.
