Siliguri, 07th February: On the occasion of Rose Day, the first day of Valentine’s Week, flower shops across Siliguri witnessed a heavy rush of customers on Saturday as people stepped out to buy roses for their loved ones.
From early morning, flower stalls in different parts of the city were seen stocked with roses of various colours. While red roses remained the most popular choice, roses in other colours also attracted buyers. Vendors reported brisk sales throughout the day, though prices were slightly higher compared to normal days due to increased demand.
People were seen purchasing roses for partners, friends and close ones as a gesture of affection. A flower seller said the demand was strong, with roses selling in the range of Rs 50 to Rs 70, and customers arriving continuously since morning.
Sharing her experience, customer Priya Chakraborty said she was buying flowers for her friend and added that Valentine Week is about sharing love and emotions, and gifting flowers is a simple yet meaningful way to express feelings.
