Siliguri, 08th February: After a prolonged wait, the stretch from Kankata More to the Hatidanga Bridge, located along the Eastern Bypass, is undergoing reconstruction. Local residents expressed their satisfaction with the commencement of the work.
The road had been dilapidated for an extended period, causing frequent accidents. During the monsoon season, waterlogging worsened the situation. However, with the initiation of the roadwork, the situation is expected to improve. The work is being carried out under the initiative of the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad.
Locals mentioned that they had been facing road-related issues for a long time, with minor accidents occurring frequently. They are now relieved that the roadwork has finally begun.
In this regard, Manisha Roy, a member of the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad, stated that plans are in place to complete the work swiftly. Officials will monitor the quality of the work to ensure it meets the required standards.
