Islampur, 04th October: The local tea growers staged a road blockade against the theft of raw tea leaves. The incident surfaced from the Bhaispita more under Chopra Haptiagachh Gram Panchayat.
The protestors alleged that the theft of raw tea leaves is frequently being reported from the past several days in Chopra’s Bhaispita, Narayanpur, and Dock Bridge areas. Despite repeated complaints to the administration in this concern, no necessary steps have been taken so far.
As a result, the local tea farmers burnt tires and staged a road blockade in Bhaispita more area. Upon receiving the news, the police reached the spot and tackled the situation.
They lifted the blockade on the assurance of the administration. They further warned of staging larger demonstrations if their demands are not met soon.
