Alipurduar, 30th December: A rhino from the Jaldapara forest strayed into a village in Alipurduar district on Monday morning. The wild animal entered the Simlabari area of Block 1 in the district.
As soon as the rhino was spotted, villagers became alarmed and immediately alerted the forest department. Forest officials from the Chilapata Range swiftly arrived at the scene and began efforts to safely guide the rhino back into the forest using a trained ‘Kunki’ elephant.
After several hours of effort, the rhino was successfully driven back to its natural habitat.
