Siliguri, 28th June: A retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Abhijit Saha, has alleged receiving death threats after he raised concerns about illegal construction near his residence in ward number 26 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.
According to reports, Abhijit Saha had served in the West Bengal Police Department for nearly 38 years before retiring. He retired in December last year from the post of ACP of DD in his working area in Siliguri Metropolitan Police and later from the post of DSP in GRP.
Saha reported that a local promoter had undertaken unauthorized construction near his residence. Upon filing a complaint, Saha claimed that he was intercepted by individuals associated with the promoter who allegedly pressured him to withdraw his complaint. Furthermore, he stated that he was threatened with severe consequences if he did not retract his complaint.
In this regard, Saha stated that despite informing authorities from the local police station to the police commissioner, no action has been taken against those involved in the unauthorized construction or the threats made against him.
In response to this, Ward Councilor Sikta Dey Basu Ray confirmed that upon receiving the former DSP’s complaint, immediate action was initiated to halt the construction. Furthermore, the structure would be demolished, and a thorough investigation would be conducted into the alleged threats.

Every big person in Siliguri weather it’s politicians, promoters, officer of any govt office or anybody gives open threats to common people and make them scared of their power’s. All common people are helpless, no one to help them.
