Siliguri, 05th April: Police from the Medical Outpost, under Siliguri Metropolitan Police, have arrested a 70-year-old retired bank manager on charges of sexually abusing a minor girl.
The accused has been identified as Buddha Ratna Anand, a resident of the Kawakhali area.
According to sources, the 16-year-old girl, who delivers milk to households in the locality, was allegedly subjected to repeated sexual abuse by the accused. It is further alleged that he frequently threatened and intimidated the girl, leaving her in fear.
The matter came to light when the minor confided in her mother and narrated the entire incident. Following this, the minor’s family lodged a complaint at the Medical Outpost.
Acting on the complaint, police initiated an investigation and arrested the accused. A case has been registered against him under the POCSO Act, and he was produced before the Siliguri Court. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
