Residents protest as drain water overflows onto roads in Fulbari’s Haripur area

Fulbari, 24th February: Drain water overflow in Haripur, near Ambikanagar under Fulbari I, has turned the road into a virtual drain, causing severe inconvenience to residents who have expressed their anger over the issue.

According to reports, locals have been suffering from drainage problems for years and have repeatedly complained to the Panchayat Pradhan, demanding a solution. Despite their pleas, no action has been taken, and the situation has worsened. Residents complain of having to walk through filthy water daily, with the unbearable stench making living conditions difficult.

Locals claim that even after approaching the Pradhan, they received no help, with the Pradhan allegedly stating that he does not even recognize the residents of his area.

Frustrated by inaction, residents have warned of an agitation if the road is not repaired and proper drainage is not implemented immediately.

Panchayat member Supriya Biswas stated that multiple complaints had been made to the Pradhan, yet no work was carried out. Following this, the issue has now been reported to the Zilla Parishad.

Meanwhile, Pradhan Sunita Roy responded, saying that work cannot be done in all areas simultaneously. She mentioned that projects are completed in phases and that delays had occurred due to certain issues. However, she assured that the work would start soon and the problem would be resolved.
