Siliguri, 10th April: In view of the Coronavirus outbreak, a nursing home in Matigara will be converted into COVID-19 Hospital, the one in Pradhan Nagar into a COVID-19 Suspected Center. The announcement was made on Thursday by Abhijit Chowdhury, the Head of the Medical Task Force Team.
Following the announcement, the locals of the Pradhan Nagar area staged a protest, since this morning, and claimed that setting up such a centre can easily spread the deadly virus in the locality.
When the Medical Task Force team went for an inspection to the Nursing Home today morning, they too faced the wrath of the people and were also besieged.
Addressing the media, the protestors demanded that the Suspected COVID-19 Center should be shifted to the city outskirts as it will lower the risk of the spread of the virus.
In this regard, Abhijit Chowdhury assured that the issue will be reported to the state government soon.
