Residents of Ward No. 45 and 46 place barricades to bar outsiders from entering the area

Siliguri, 27th March: The entire nation is under lockdown in light of the coronavirus outbreak. In addition to this, after the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital confirmed the first COVID-19 positive case of North Bengal, on Saturday evening, a mixed reaction could be seen in the Siliguri city.
While huge crowds were sighted in Siliguri’s Bidhan Market, Haidarpara, Subhash Pally and many more areas on Sunday morning, residents of areas such as Ward No. 45 Mallaguri and Ward No. 46 Milan More-Sukna placed barricades to bar outsiders from entering their ward. Locals are also interrogating people entering the region.
It is to recall that on Saturday evening, the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital confirmed North Bengal’s first COVID-19 positive case after a test report came back positive. After the news, many are demanding an increase in police surveillance during the lockdown period.
