Siliguri, 06th September: A distressing incident involving alleged highhandedness and bullying by drug addicts has come to light in the ward of Siliguri’s Mayor. Residents of the area, including a woman, fell victim to an attack when they protested against this.
Reportedly, numerous young individuals were participating in unlawful gatherings, often involving drug use, in Surya Sen Colony’s More Bazaar, located adjacent to the railway quarters. On Monday night, several youths were reportedly engaged in similar activities and were using offensive language near the Loknath temple. In response to these activities, two local youths took a stand and protested against the unruly behavior. Shockingly, they were allegedly assaulted by the individuals.
As family members of the two protestors stepped forward to help, they too became targets of the attack. Among the injured were three individuals named Sandhya Saha, Subrata Saha, and Ranjit Saha, with Ranjit sustaining head injuries. On Tuesday night, a formal complaint was lodged at the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Police Station.
