Siliguri, 06th June: The roads in Kumartuli Durga Nagar area under Ward No. 04 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation are lying in a deplorable condition. Even a light shower causes water logging in the area and the dirty water enters people’s houses. Locals alleged that despite writing to the people’s representatives and Mayor, no heed has been paid to their grievances.
Junaina Parveen, who recently secured the eighth position in the state in her Madhyamik examination, is also a resident of the area. Her father Zakir Hussain stated that there are many problems in the area apart from the poor roads. Another resident added that due to poor drainage systems, water from various places flows like a river on the road. They demanded the immediate repairment of roads as well as solutions to other problems. In this regard, ward councillor Vivek Singh assured that the problems will be resolved soon.
