Rajganj, 17th April: The residents of Demdhapara booth of Rajganj assembly boycotted the polls demanding a rail gate.
Reportedly, there are booths 18/235 and 18/235 (A) in Demdhapara primary school at Belakoba under Rajganj assembly. The number of voters in these two booths is 1213. Voting was conducted till 11 am in these booths.
In this regard, a villager said that they have boycotted the polls demanding a rail gate. ‘If we go to Jalpaiguri, we have to travel a long way. We were fined several times for crossing the railway line. So we all are boycotting the polls and we demand a rail gate soon.
The presiding officer of booth number 235 said that about an hour and a half after the start of polling, two voters came. So far, three people have cast their votes. ‘We have informed the higher authorities about the matter.’, he stated.
