Cooch Behar, 29th November: The residents of the area under Gopalpur Gram Panchayat of Cooch Behar Block No. 02 halted the road construction after protesting against the subpar materials used for road construction.
According to reports, the road connecting Chowrangi Bazar to Karmakar Para via Hatidhura was undergoing reconstruction under the Pathashree project. However, the residents of the area halted the construction work protesting the use of substandard materials and inferior quality work despite reconstruction after a prolonged period of time. Furthermore, the reconstructed road is said to have been falling apart only after a day.
The locals claimed that the substandard construction of the road would not be beneficial thus insisting on proper repair work.
