Residents distressed as drainage water floods road in Fulbari

Fulbari, 05th April: Residents of the Michael Madhusudan Colony area, under the Fulbari I Gram Panchayat (GP), are facing severe difficulties due to waterlogging caused by drainage water overflowing onto the streets. This has led to significant transportation problems and a foul stench for the locals.

According to local sources, the drainage system in the said area has been blocked with plastic and other waste resulting in sewage water overflowing onto the roads. Significantly, the water level would rise gradually in the evening and seep into the houses. In addition to the waterlogging creating problems for the locals to commute through the area, the area is plagued by foul stench, posing health risks to the residents, especially children and the elderly. The matter was informed to the local Gram Panchayat in the area but no action has been taken to address the situation.

In this regard, Panchayat Pradhan Sunita Ray Chakraborty stated that the matter should have been intervened by the panchayat. She further acknowledged the complaints and assured immediate intervention to resolve the issue.
