Siliguri, 14th October: In the recent episode of ‘Talk to Mayor’, a resident of Ward No. 39 of Siliguri called the mayor and congratulated him for permitting illegitimate activities in the city. However, in a swift turn of events, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb acknowledged him in return.
According to reports, Mayor Goutam Deb had allowed a man in need to construct his house on a plot of a few square feet in the area. However, the neighbouring resident was discontented as a result and caused hindrance in the construction work. Following this, the resident contacted the mayor through the ‘Talk to Mayor’ program and congratulated him for the unauthorized construction.
However, in response, the mayor congratulated the complainant explaining that the work was done prioritizing the interests of the poor. As per instructions provided by the Chief Minister, the construction work in Ward No. 39 was permitted in an effort to house a helpless individual. He further declared that he would continue with the construction work despite obstructions.
