Rescue operation underway for Siliguri’s youth who jumped into the Teesta River from Sevoke Coronation Bridge

Siliguri, 04th January: On Wednesday, Gour Mandal, a resident of Binoy More in Siliguri, dived into the Teesta River following the heartbreaking last words of ‘Take care of mother’ to his younger brother. Significantly, rescue operations are underway in search of the drowned youth.

According to reports, the youth had been experiencing emotional instability ever since his love interest got engaged in holy matrimony with another individual about two years ago. The youth’s family believes that his grief was the primary reason prompting him to take such an extreme step. Despite several efforts, the youth has not been found.

It is to be noted that Gour Mandal had left his home on Wednesday morning and subsequently jumped from the Coronation Bridge into the Teesta River after a final conversation with his brother over the phone, in the afternoon. On Thursday, his family members were spotted on the riverbanks during the search operation. In this regard, Gour’s younger brother expressed his disappointment over the incident and claimed his emotional state to be the reason behind the tragedy.
